Mixed and improper fractions

Mixed & Improper Fractions In maths with Amy I learnt how to convert a mixed fraction to an improper fraction.  This is what I learnt: you multiply the whole number bit by the denominator. Then you add that number to whatever the numerator is. I usually write the answer by the denominator. That's how you convert a mixed fraction to an improper fraction. Now I know how to.

Anti-Bullying Project

Anti-Bullying Project            Me, Anjani and Rhiannon wanted to decrease the amount of bullying at this school, so we decided to write down a list of ideas to do so. We eventually chose to create a short film. The short film was simply called "Stop Bullying". First, we made a plan. We created characters and the problem, solution etc. Then we got to work on the script. We had to think about the scenes, and keep in mind they all has to be filmed in school, and thought about the places to film in. After that came the casting. Anjani volunteered to keep editing the script while Rhiannon and I looked for actors. We already had an actor for the main character, (Anjani) but we needed heaps more. We got eight people, which was exactly the amount we wanted, then we came the hardest part...filming. The actors often had trouble remembering their lines, or ...

Explanation

Writing My Explanation I wrote an   Explanation  about why people need plants to live. I wrote all the reasons plants are so important and how they help us survive. First, I thought of a good introduction. I thought about how it needed to introduce the topic, and have some information as well, so I decided to start with a rhetorical question. Then I linked my first paragraph with my introduction by using relative information, then I also linked the second one and so on. Here's a link to my blog in the first sentence.

Rust On Nails (Immersion)

Rust On Nails In Nicole's immersion we did an experiment on rust to see which nail would rust faster. We had two glasses of water. In one glass we put normal tap water, and in the other we put water with salt in it. We then put one nail in each glass of water. I made a hypothesis that the nail in the tap water would rust faster because rain is water with no salt, and one time I left my scooter in the rain and it rusted. Over around two weeks we looked at the nails and I wrote down on  a scale of one to ten how rusty each one was. For a long time, the one in tap water was more rusty, but in the end it was the one in salty water that had more rust in the least amount of time. So now I know that salt makes things rust faster.

Talent Show!

Talent Quest  Around a month ago Anjani, Grace, Rhiannon, Indie, Tiana, Isla and I, had a meeting to plan a talent show. First, we had to advertise so people would sign up. Rhiannon and I made posters so people would know a talent was happening. Then me Tiarna, Anjani, Isla and I, Created sign up sheets for the people who wanted to audition, while Grace and Rhiannon made a Facebook poster for more advertising. After the sign up sheets were hung up for a week and a half, over half the school had signed up. Now we had to plan audition dates. We met up with some high school students for extra help. They told us we could use their auditorium for the actual talent show, and they would print participation certificates.  They would also help with judging the auditions. We planned the audition's to be on the 20th, but there were school trips so we moved them to the 28th and 29th. The first day of auditions went amazing and so did the second. We didn't tell them the score...

Immersion (Energy)

What I Learnt About Energy During immersion this term we're focusing on energy. I learnt lots of things I didn't know before, like how there is more than one type of energy, and everything contains energy even if it never moves or isn't moving. The different types of energies are: Potential/stored, kinetic, chemical, gravitational. There's also more, but we did not talk about them.  Another thing I learnt is how even when something is not moving, there's still energy moving in it. Even a rock has energy. A rock is always sitting still, so it contains gravitational energy pulling down. If a rock was sitting on a hill doing nothing it would have potentail  energy. if it  rolled  down a hill, the energy would be converted to useful energy.

How to tie shoelaces

How To Tie Shoelaces  Materials Shoes with laces Feet Hands  Instructions 1. Pick up the laces and fold each lace into "bunny ears". Hold them in place between your thumb and pointing finger. 2. Cross the bunny ears so they make an "X" shape.  3. Loop the bottom bunny ear over and through the top bunny ear, which will create a second knot. 4. Pull the laces away from the shoe tightening the knot.     Enjoy your tied up shoes!

I've got the power!

How to write proper instructions

How To Write Instructions Before I learnt to write proper instructions I was much less specific and people did not understand them properly. Now I know how to write it step-by-step and not leave anything out, and when  people read my instructions now they can actually do them with only one, if not any, questions. For example, before if was writing  instructions to tie shoelaces, I would have started by writing "Tie a knot." Now, I would actually instruct how to tie the knot, and now I also know that I should write the materials you need so who ever reads it knows what they need and if they have everything they need.
